Very funny Shrek, you really laugh until you can't.

“Shrek” is a medieval fairy tale infused with the quirks of modern life. It’s packed with comedic moments, though none are rib-cracking laughs, and every twist feels more like a silly skit. The dialogue is excessive and noisy, and the only redeeming factor is the film’s well-chosen soundtrack.

While I personally enjoy Shrek, it highlights some of DreamWorks’ early pitfalls. The world-building feels shallow, making it hard to develop a more layered franchise. The visuals look more like live-action films, and the main characters are quite stereotypical. Yet, it’s undeniably a fun and insightful adult fairy tale.

A classic animated film that upends the fairy tale genre, "Shrek" blends various fairy tale characters and elements with a heavy dose of tongue-in-cheek humor. The plot is fantastic, offering freshness and creativity, with several transitions that stand out.

DreamWorks' humor hits the mark, and the unconventional plot is commendable. The screenplay boasts an unexpected complexity, and the voice actors' performances add significant depth, enriching the themes and core of the story. It's undoubtedly one of the animated films worth watching, but certain parts of the animation are notably unpolished, possibly due to budget constraints.

Seriously, I’ve watched this movie at least ten times. It's a fairytale for adults. The background with the swaying grass and drifting clouds, coupled with the iconic voice-acting… I didn't just fall in love with the story, I fell for that world on the screen. When the unclassical becomes a classic, when going against tradition becomes the tradition, and when a particularity becomes the norm, any sequels are simply subpar.

Genre subversion isn't the same as parodying. What made "Shrek" such a hit is how it 'breaks the truth' and destroys the 'consensus' of mainstream consciousness and injects new ideas, thereby grabbing people's attention and triggering deeper reflections, delivering a whole new kind of thrill.

My kind of hero

One of the, if not the, greatest and most creative takes on fairy tales to this day, and the same goes for the main character. Extremely original, enjoyable, and the perfect adventure all around. A favorite.

A landmark for modern animation

Dreamworks nailed the charismatic ogre and his adventure to save a princess imprisoned in a castle in exchange for regaining his peace of mind in his swamp. Funny, with numerous winks and parodies of classic fairy tales and although the animation over the years has been somewhat blurred (especially with human beings), it is still very entertaining and a true animation landmark.

Me gustó mucho pero lo malo fue que los demás capítulos había magia y hechicerías y brujas volando la verdad no me gustó eso
