I wish I lived in these homes.
Information & FunI don’t know about you, but I love a board…

Well, yes, that kind of board, but I'm thinking more specifically of…

A Pinterest board.
It’s no secret that we use Pinterest to moodboard and explore our own tastes. It’s curating our own collage of tastes and using it to inform our lifestyle. In my case, I love to use Pinterest to look at home interiors and visualize what an eventual home of mine could look like…

whether it's a living room…

a kitchen…

bookshelves… you name it.
And I want to take a moment to quickly shoutout Ray Romano and Nicole Scherzinger’s Architectural Digest house tours because I would sell my organs on the black market to live in the homes they live in.
Oh, and Dakota Johnson, I hope you like limes now.

As a result of ritualistic movie watching, there have been many apartments and living quarters that I've become enamoured with. When that happens, I'll easily check out from the movie and start to fantasize about evicting the characters and taking over their lease.
I want to take this moment to walk you through movie homes I want to live in.
Disclaimer! It’s worth warning that I may be indirectly spoiling the movies I am going to talk about, and if you get to the end of this article and are thinking:
“WELL, WHAT ABOUT THIS MOVIE?”
It’s not mentioned for one of two reasons:
- I haven’t seen the movie you’re talking about
- I have seen the movie you’re talking about… but I think the interior is ugly.
Let’s get started.
1. Three Colors: Blue (1993), Composer's Apartment
This is just everything. This lofty-looking thing that is fully open-concept but triple the square footage of a typical studio apartment. It has a je-ne-sais-quoi, the only word that comes to mind is sanctuary.
2. Bridget Jones' Diary (2001), Bridget's Apartment
That lounge couch? Fabulous. The messy bookshelf? Charming. The box TV and a glass of red? Quirky lamps? The stack of CDs in front of the window? I’m sure the set decorator probably wanted Bridget’s messy and self-destructive nature to be represented in her living space, but honestly, this just strikes me as lived-in, yet in a cozy way. Every night would be a night in if this is what I’m working with.
3. Caché (2005), The Laurent Household
Well, yes, the several tapes that are mailed to them featuring stale footage of their house is creepy. But the house feels so tucked away and disguised albeit in a busy Parisian street. And plastered with greenery? Don’t flirt with me…
And yeah, Juliette Binoche is receiving one hell of an ominous phone call… BUT LOOK AT THAT LIVING ROOM! The years it takes to curate a media collection like that… and then your TV is the nucleus of it all? I yearn to watch movies in this kind of living room.
4. Tár (2022), Lydia's Apartment

I mean… Lydia was battling some DEMONS in Tár, and she was mostly good at keeping them beneath the surface. With those kinds of high ceilings, large windows with natural light, STACKED bookshelves, and that gorgeous piano? If that apartment could mostly keep Lydia under control, I could only wonder about the serenity I’d feel living in it.
5. Ratatouille (2007), Linguini's Apartment
Yeah, it’s a shoebox. And rats very well could be the property managers of that complex. No wonder Linguini trusted Remy to move in with him.

But you can’t deny the view.

And I’d be waking up to a rat making me omelettes every morning, so…
6. Something's Gotta Give (2005), Erica's House

Just ever so slightly a step-up from the Grey Gardens house… Hamptons, am I right?

Despite the absence of Little Edie as a roommate, the fact Erica gets to be a playwright, afford a house like this, then write plays in a room like THIS? If I had a room like this to write, writer’s block would fear me.
7. Shrek (2001), Shrek's Swamp House

Just kidding. But it's charming to say the least.
Which movie homes do you wish you could live in?
