We're not sinking. We're crashing! Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984)

General Reviews

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a wild, darker, and completely bonkers Indiana Jones adventure. It doesn't quite reach the heights of Raiders of the Lost Ark, but when it's firing on all cylinders, it's an absolute blast. The MVP is Short Round. Ke Huy Quan steals practically every scene with his hilarious lines, great chemistry with Harrison Ford, and surprising heroics. He's more than comic relief he's brave, useful, and one of the best parts of the movie. Knowing that Quan and Ford reunited nearly 40 years later makes that reunion even more wonderful. Seeing Indy and Short Round together again was a genuinely special Hollywood moment. The minecart chase is another highlight. It's chaotic, ridiculous, and incredibly fun, with fantastic practical effects and stunts. Harrison Ford is great as Indy, and the movie delivers plenty of memorable action and adventure. The biggest weakness is the tone. Temple of Doom gets much darker and more disturbing than you'd expect, with some scenes going surprisingly far. Willie can also be frustrating at times compared with Marion from Raiders. Still, the action, adventure, Short Round, and sheer insanity make this a really fun Indy movie.

4/5

Not quite Raiders, but Temple of Doom is still one hell of an adventure and Short Round absolutely steals the show.
