I'm a fan of the franchise, I really like this movie, there was a scene that scared me, and I'm usually hard to scare in movies. I liked the story, the effects, and the acting.
We can't deny that this franchise was a masterpiece of "horror," especially since it's based on real events and tells the story with real photos of Ed and Lorraine Warren.

El Conjuro 4: Últimos Ritos (2025)
Género: Terror, Misterio, Suspenso
Duración: 135 min | Clasificación: R (EE. UU.)

For me this movie was one of the best in plot, cinematography, script, references to the past, everything.

as much as this final instalment had beautiful visuals, the plot took too long to develop and it could have done with cutting at least 15 minutes.

In the 70’s and 80’s, Ed and Lorraine Warren made their own mark on the world as paranormal investigators. They were involved in an alleged over 1000 cases. THE CONJURING movie franchise and its spinoffs have highlighted quite a few of said cases. THE CONJURING: LAST RITES is the fourth main movie and ninth overall. This focuses on the case of the Smurl family, and the nightmare they endured in 1986. This time, it involves a creepy mirror. Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine (Vera Farmiga) are trying to live a peaceful life (can you blame them?). Their daughter Judy (Mia Tomlinson) has a similar affliction that her mom has, sensing paranormal entities. They get involved with the Smurl family and their peace is interrupted. For the most part, this movie is fine. It still boggles my mind that they have a room in their house full of possessed artifacts from their cases, and the demons are all just, what, too busy with group therapy to go haunt innocent people? We’ve seen most of the horror tropes and jump scares in many, many other movies. This one does have a few very effective scenes though. Sadly, it’s way too long and super predictable. THE CONJURING: LAST RITES has no rite being over two hours long. For a movie that keeps saying “based on true events”, none of this stuff actually happened. No matter how bad these movies are, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga have always been great in these roles. I actually enjoyed this movie. I’ve seen so many bad horror movies, I can tell when one is competently made, even if the script is all over the place. Horror movies made by Hollywood are just not up to par with the lesser known, original indy darlings that keep surprising people these days. Fun fact: Just last month, comedian Matt Rife purchased the Warren’s home and occult museum, so get ready for some very funny demons. I’m now a bit worried that this movie felt like a “passing the torch” scenario. I need a new horror franchise to sink my teeth into. No dolls or nuns, please. Whether you believe in this stuff or not, THE CONJURING: LAST RITES is a mixed bag of horror tropes, family drama, some cool scares, and a very questionable label of “based on true events”. They say this is the final CONJURING movie. We’ll see.
