10 Hollywood Movies You Can’t Miss This Fall/Winter

General Reviews

The recent trailer drop for Avatar 3 made me realize—dang, we’re about to get a flood of big Hollywood releases in the second half of the year.

Sure, I’ve always thought Hollywood can be a little… cliché. But let’s be real—completely giving up on fun? Impossible.

So here’s my list. Some of these have already been released, but since it's still happening in the second half year, it still counts. Now let’s roll.

10 – Predator: Badlands
In theaters Nov 7, 2025

I’m usually super skeptical about rebooting classic franchise. It’s like slapping a weird modern engine into a vintage car—more often than not, it just kills the soul. But Prey? That one was different. Director Dan Trachtenberg made a genius move: instead of adding more, he stripped it all down. No flashy tech, no convoluted subplots—just a pure fight for survival: one hunter vs. one prey.

Now he’s back with Badlands. Post-apocalyptic desert, humans stripped of their tech advantage, going up against the galaxy’s top predator with nothing but flesh and grit. Exactly my jam. No more muscle bros spraying miniguns—this is brains and fear duking it out.

9 – The Naked Gun
Already out

I can't help burst out laughing just seeing the title and the male lead. Liam Neeson, the guy who can threaten an entire country over the phone and single-handedly take down Paris for his daughter, is playing a bumbling detective? That’s just genius casting.

Everything’s so serious these days. Everyone’s debating massive issues, and we're tense 24/7. We need dumb, brain-off, even slightly lowbrow joy. The Naked Gun series is exactly that kind of joy.

8 – Nobody 2
Already out

Nobody was one of the biggest surprises that year. Bob Odenkirk, the slick-talking lawyer Saul Goodman we all know, now plays a long-repressed retired hitman. I love the premise that an ordinary guy smoothed down by life is still a bloodthirsty beast inside. Kinda like a lot of us ,isn't it? We sit at our desks all day acting tame, but tell me you’ve never wanted to flip that table.

The sequel promises to dig deeper into his dark past. In the first film, he was just reacting; this time, he’s taking the fight to protect his family. My favorite thing here is the action style—no overcooked CGI, just brutal, close-up brawls. You feel every punch, every block, every bone-jarring hit.

7 – Wicked: Part Two – For Good
In theaters Nov 21, 2025

I’ll admit, musicals don’t usually do it for me. Big song-and-dance numbers tend to yank me out of the story. But Wicked is the exception. The story is rock solid—it’s basically a reimagining of The Wizard of Oz, showing us that maybe the “Wicked Witch” wasn’t so wicked after all.

This kind of reframing hits that sweet spot in psychology—exploring bias, friendship, and how “good” and “evil” aren’t as clear-cut as we think. Part one set the stage, but part two is where everything blows up. The final break between the green witch and the blonde witch isn’t just personal—it could change all of Oz.

6 – Tron: Ares
In theaters Oct 10, 2025

It’s been 15 years since Tron: Legacy. That’s enough time for a kid to grow up, and for the digital world to completely transform. The “digital frontier” back then already feels retro now that we’ve got AI, the metaverse, Web 3.0.

Tron: Ares comes at just the right time. I got hooked by the premise: an AI entity named Ares escapes the digital world into the real one. No more humans going in—it’s the digital life invading us. Way cooler (and scarier) than the metaverse hype before. It taps straight into our biggest anxiety right now: Will AI replace us... or wipe us out?

5 – Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
In theaters Dec 12, 2025

At long last we get Benoit Blanc back. Daniel Craig’s Southern-accented, flashy-suited detective is one of my favorite screen characters in recent years. He’s not a pompous Holmes or a nitpicky Poirot—he’s more like a sharp, slightly sarcastic observer of human nature who finds the one truth in chaos.

Director Rian Johnson says this is the “darkest, most complex” Knives Out yet, which gets me hyped. The first two were smart, fun social satire wrapped in whodunit games. But if this third one really dives into darker corners of humanity, it could go from popcorn mystery to legit crime classic.

4 – Now You See Me: Now You Don’t
In theaters Nov 14, 2025

Nine years later, the Four Horsemen ride again. I honestly thought the series was dead. The first two films were like magic shows. They weren’t about airtight logic, but about spectacle, reversals, and pure how-did-they-do-that energy. You watch, you’re wowed, and later you’re like... “Okay, that’s impossible.”

But that’s the magic. You now it’s fake, but love the trick anyway.

3 – The Conjuring: Last Rites
In theaters Sep 5, 2025

The Conjuring-verse is finally closing shop. Honestly, the spin-offs have been hit-or-miss, and I’m feeling the fatigue. But still I'll buy a ticket in no time for Ed and Lorraine Warren’s main storyline when it hits theatres.

Because Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga give this real-life exorcist couple such warmth and credibility—you don’t just watch a horror movie, you watch a marriage battling evil together. And that’s what makes it work.

2 – Zootopia 2
In theaters Nov 26, 2025

I’m not into Nintendo—never got the Switch hype. But there's work also for all ages that I love so much: Zootopia. A bunny who wants to be a cop, a fox stuck in stereotypes—both trying to find their place in a seemingly perfect city. It’s not just for kids. Underneath the cute animals, it’s a sharp social fable about prejudice, dreams, and reality.

Nine years is way too long to wait. The sequel’s adding a night market district and a flying bird city, which is cool, but what I really care about is how they’ll dig deeper into species discrimination. In the first one, the problem looked solved, but come on—we know in real life, bias doesn’t vanish that easily. Just hope the nine years of waiting are totally worth it.

1 – Avatar: Fire and Ash
In theaters Dec 19, 2025

No-brainer for the top spot. This isn’t just a movie. It's James Cameron’s obsession turned into a full-blown tech revolution.

To be honest, the story of Avatar 2 didn’t fully convince me. Some parts were even a bit tired. But I was still fully enanaged the moment the lights went down and Pandora hit that IMAX screen. That immersion was unmatched. Cameron doesn’t make films, he makes worlds.

Now we’re moving from oceans to volcanoes. The trailer’s “fire tribe” and burning forests, with all that sulfur-and-ash aesthetic, look brutal compared to the lush blues and greens before. It’s not just new scenery but also an escalation of civilization and conflict.

And I trust Cameron. If he makes it, it’s gonna be jaw-dropping. Dec 19, I’m finding the best IMAX seat possible, and I’m letting him take me back to that faraway world.

That’s the list. From sci-fi to horror, comedy to animation, the rest of this year’s lineup is stacked. Movies are like alternate lives we get to borrow. So get ready for two hours where you can forget the debt, the stress, the annoying people, and just live another story.

See you at the theater.

Love that some of the movie series are getting more. Like Avatar? Yes please! And even though Zootopia wasnt a movie series, I loved the first one movie. I loved the fox but the sloth was funny as heck. Im not a fan of Wicked, though im sure its a fantastic movie series. The original Wizard of Oz will always be king. And the movie Naked Gun, i can't wait.

Thank you for your article!

Cool list! I'm getting hyped now! I'd no faith in the new Knives Out movie, especially after the second movie, but you might be changing my mind!
