seamouseNovember 21, 2023In "Social Genocide", the director depicts the outskirts of the capital as a flooded city, presents the showy celebrity president Menem playing tennis with former President Bush, shows the privatization of "Argentinian petrification" to private entities, and portrays a situation where even the "people," including the director, cannot withdraw money from the bank as the nation faces bankruptcy. This seems less like magical realism and more like a form of "fantasy realism." By watching "Social Genocide" one can almost understand the inspiration behind "The Journey" and "The Cloud." It doesn't require much imagination in terms of magical realism; instead, it involves dramatizing characters a bit more, increasing external debts to kilograms, and intensifying floods. So, all of this can be termed "fantasy realism."
