I was fascinated by Maggie Gyllenhaal's directorial debut, an absolutely haunting psychological thriller, with performances that captivated me, both Olivia Colman's and those of Jessie Buckley and Dakota Johnson. The story offers a rather uncomfortable yet dramatically compelling perspective on motherhood.

Give'em an award already

Elena Ferrante and Olivia Coleman together? PHENOMENAL COMBINATION, I trust that anything that comes out of that duo will be Oscar worthy to say the least.

A complex and raw portrayal of motherhood

The Lost Daughter is a haunting psychological drama and a stunning directorial debut for Maggie Gyllenhaal. Although the film loses its focus somewhat during the second half as it delves into repetitive subplots from Leda's past, it manages to maintain the elusive tone thanks to the prodigious work together of Olivia Colman, Dakota Johnson and Jessie Buckley.

Crises.
