Together with Vincent Paronnaud, she brought Persepolis to the big screen, launching her career as a director. The film was not only a critical and box-office success, but also won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and was nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Film. Consolidating a fundamental voice in the defense of human rights and freedom, a central theme in many of her works.
