The best Vietnam War movie, hands down. It’s probably the only film about the Vietnam War that doesn’t even show Vietnam. This is exactly how the anti-war message should be delivered!!! Absolutely awesome!!!

The film’s thematic exploration of war and military institutions is thought-provoking, but the shaky camera work is distracting and gave me a headache. The color palette is drab and unappealing, which made the film visually uninviting.

It’s an unconventional war film, as there are no real battles, but the harsh training and mounting tension among soldiers effectively convey the brutality of war. These young men don’t fully understand why they’re fighting, only that they want to survive and go home. The oppressive environment of the training camp causes many of them to unravel.
