Chicas muy bravas (2009)★ 6.7/10

As Barrymore’s directorial debut, it captures the roller derby action with admirable intensity. Elliot Page delivers a performance that’s as spirited as the sport itself.

Drew Barrymore’s take on this classic underdog tale feels sluggish and lack spark. The story plunges straight into the sport with little setup, making it hard to get invested, and the crowded roster of side characters leaves no one fully developed.
