Lucas.June 5, 2026Does anyone remember Flea Market Montgomery?
Went and saw Backrooms last night. Loved it. But Clark's furniture store and the ad he made for it… was it giving anyone else Flea Market Montgomery? Like if the Backrooms ever were to really open up like that, it would…

Carlos NorciaJune 4, 2026Backrooms and Audition
For some reason, my brain put these two images together. And since then, every time I see that shot with Renate Reinsve from Backrooms it reminds me of Takashi Miike's Audition. But now I think I wanna see a remake of…

dinklebergJune 2, 2026I shouldn't have to watch 12 hours of lore videos to understand your film
This was inspired by a bit of backlash I received after both Iron Lung and Backrooms came out. I wasn't a fan of either film, and was told “you just need to watch a few videos to understand the lore”. NO! I bought a…

AlexKokkeJune 2, 2026Euphoria had better ending than Stranger Things
Euphoria Season 3 was weird and dumb, but at least had the balls to kill 2 main characters.
1Lucas.May 30, 2026The VIFF Summer Series "90s, Baby!" Goes Absolutely Crazy
As a 90s baby, I feel personally seen and validated. This summer, Vancouver's VIFF Centre will be showing a whole list of classic movies from the 1990s. They may as well just take my credit card at this point. It's got…

The new film, Lucid, is preparing to begin screenings across Canada. The film was shot in Victoria, BC. It is the debut feature from directors Deanna Milligan and Ramsey Fendall. The film is described as “dreamlike” and…

K AugustMay 27, 2026The Odyssey...or the Idiodicy?
Okay, I'm going to weigh in on this one… There has been a lot of talk online about Christopher Nolan's take on the Homer epic, and I think that it is destined to fail at to box office, but I would like to hear how you…
4Lucas.May 26, 2026Fjord wins Palme d'Or
Fjord, the new film from Cristian Mungiu, has won the Palme d'Or — the highest prize at the Cannes Film Festival. The film stars two of my favourite actors in the business today, Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan. It is…

The DCMay 23, 2026Do we need a new Godfather movie?
A new Godfather movie is apparently in the works. Based on a novel that hasn't been written yet, it will follow Connie's story, but it will also focus on the women of the Corleone family. Coppola won't be involved at…

SUNSMay 23, 2026Has Anyone Seen Devil May Cry?
I started with Demonslayer, vibed, and now am watching Devil May Cry (I think there's a theme with what narratives I'm drawn to). Anyways, I'm deep into the trenches of the second season and still have no idea if I like…
1Lucas.May 22, 2026Movie with best score of all time playing at VIFF Centre, Tuesday
May 26th is the 100th birthday of Miles Davis. To celebrate, the VIFF Centre (1181 Seymour St., Vancouver) is screening Elevator to the Gallows. This is a French New Wave film that was scored by Davis. It's a noir, but…
1Lucas.May 22, 2026Coffee with a side of existentialism
Woke up this morning with an e-mail from the National Film Board announcing a now short film streaming on their website, nfb.ca. I poured a coffee and decided to watch it. The film is called Good Luck to You All. It's…
1The DCMay 21, 2026Power Ballad... what do we think?
Paul Rudd and ⅓ of the Jonas Brothers (the best third, in my opinion). I watched the trailer the other week and it seems like it could be… pretty ok. What do you think? Are you watching it?…

Jenn The EditorMay 20, 2026What did you watch this long weekend?
I caught up on Euphoria and Hacks, rewatched some Girls, and watched the movie PVT Chat. What about you?
7SUNSMay 16, 2026Finally joined the Demon Slayer Bandwagon
I'm pleasantly surprised by the show, thought it'd be way darker but don't hate it? I think it's clearly meant for teenage boys, so I might be the wrong demographic; however, I think that it explores friendship…
0Lucas.May 16, 2026Have you ever watched a Steve McQueen movie?
Last night, I turned on my TV to watch some hockey. The screen flicked on to the last channel I watched, which was, obviously, TCM. I was enthralled from the very first second, never changed the channel, and watched the…

3Lucas.May 14, 2026Good Movie, Bad Title
Over the weekend, I watched a movie (on TCM, obvi) called The Strange Love of Martha Ivers. Despite the clear Doctor Strangelove comparison, I thought this title was pretty boring. Even this poster lame as hell. But the…
