Thoughts on The Vampire Lestat?

I feel like I've seen a wild mix of reactions to the third season of Interview with the Vampire (retitled The Vampire Lestat) on Twitter - people either hated it or loved it. I'm curious what people here think about it?

I personally really enjoyed it! The tonal change took a while to get used to, but I thought the season hit its stride by Episode 3 “Toronto.”

Sam Reid and Jacob Anderson continue to give some of the best performances I've seen on TV. Their chemistry is electric, and their dynamic with Delainey Hayles was devastating and so well written. Assad Zaman and Joseph Potter are both fantastic but I wish they were given a bit more to do. Jennifer Ehle is amazingly evil, despite my questions about Gabriella. Eric Bogosian is the perfect amount of cocky for an old-man-turned-fledgling, and as much as I love Devil's Minion, I kinda wish it was revealed in a different way or through a bottle episode similar to S2E5 “Don't Be Afraid, Just Start the Tape.”

Sheila Atim had the perfect entrance as Akasha! I'm super excited and curious about how season 4 (retitled again, this time to Queen of the Damned) will be, considering it's supposed to be a two-parter with this season and that the writers always have the bigger picture in mind.

The chaotic humour is genius for Lestat's facade - as the season progressed and his facade cracks, the show balanced this humour with a more serious and darker tone well. The season's exploration of abuse, trauma, and failure (and its cyclical nature) through music was really thoughtful. Daniel Hart wrote some beautiful songs for Lestat and composed another perfect score. It's definitely not the adaptation of the book I expected it to be (although we already kinda knew that from IWTV season 1-2). They took some big swings and I think they mostly stuck the landing!
