Is anyone else bummed that the new Mummy isn't like the old Mummy's?

I was planning to go see Lee Cronin's The Mummy, but I've been reading reviews on Peliplat and they're saying that it's not at all like The Mummy movies that starred Brendan Fraser. This kind of bummed me out.

Yes, I wanted a fresh take on the series, but I still wanted it to keep some of the elements that made The Mummy so special. Whacky Egyptian stuff… but I guess this new movie gets away from that.

where are the sand dunes?

What do you think? Are you excited to see Lee Cronin's The Mummy? Or do you wish they just cast B. Fraze and did a rehash of the old ones? And how does The Scorpion King fit into all this? Does Tom Cruise get a mention? Let me know in the comments…

I'm guessing this new movie doesn't have scarabs. That was the spookiest part of the 1999 version.

it seems like the new one doesn't have a screwball comedy type of couple, played by hot actors, who are arguing with each other all the time, and that's like the number one element I'd expect they would've learned from the 90s/2000s series...
