What Should've Won the Oscar: 1967

Six Sevennnnnnnn

The Winner

In the Heat of the Night

The Nominations

Bonnie and Clyde

Doctor Dolittle

The Graduate

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner

Other Movies from 1967

Cool Hand Luke

Wait Until Dark

The Dirty Dozen

The Jungle Book

My Two Cents

Wow, Sydney Poitier with two Best Picture nominations, yet he wasn't nominated for Best Actor (but his costars Rob Steiger, Spencer Tracy and Cecil Kellaway were all nominated)… I think it's clear that America was grappling with its racist past in 1967, as well as watching the young generation slip into a new state of ennui. Although In the Heat of the Night is a good movie, I think that I would've picked The Graduate to win Best Picture. Also, why the heck was Doctor Dolittle nominated??

Your Pick

Let me know in the comments what movie you would have picked for Best Picture of 1967 and don't forget to tell me why!

In the context of what was going on in 1967, I totally understand the winner. The Graduate or Bonnie & Clyde could easily have won it and I'd be happy with those picks too.
