Kristen Stewart's directorial debut goes to Cannes
The Chronology of Water, the film that Kristen Stewart said she'd give up acting for if it didn't get funded, is going to Cannes! Apparently after editing down the film, it made the second round of and will play in the iconic festival's ‘Un Certain Regard’ section.
Based on the boundary-breaking memoir by Lidia Yuknavitch, The Chronology of Water follows Lidia's journey battling addiction, becoming a writer, reconciling abuse, finding love, falling apart, and piecing herself back together again. The book is often stream of consciousness and breaks conventional writing rules, so it will be interesting to see how Stewart adapts that to the screen.
Personally, I couldn't be more excited for this film as the book changed how I understand storytelling. Adapting a beloved literary work always leaves room for disappointment, but I feel like Kristen Stewart has a unique view of the world and I'm so curious to see her work as a director!
