Something Very Bad is Going to Happen is a new Netflix limited series that stars Camila Monrroe and Adam DiMarco. 

The limited series follows an engaged couple, Rachel and Nicky, whose intimate wedding at a secluded family estate turns into a nightmare. The plot revolves around a generational curse that kills women on their wedding day if they marry the wrong person, forcing Rachel to choose between a doomed marriage or passing the curse to her future in-laws.

Watch With the Lights Off

This series demands you to watch it in a enviroment where the lights are off, because the work behind camera that you can feel the dread, the eerie feeling, and the muted sounds are something extraordinary. The characters are weird, behaving almost out of the ordinary. 

The sensation that something lures behind you is well done. The cinematography earns too many points, combining colors of blue and black that gives the sensation of loneliness and unepxected decisions.

The Duffer Brothers are just Producers

Many people tend to believe that the creators of Stranger Things wrote this story and, they were just producers and having some work behind the camera, but nothing story-wise was affected by them. Saying that, episode 4 and onwards starts to feel like a distach of what they were building previously and derails in the penultimate episode, bringing a lot of guts and blood to the final episode that gives a setup to another season, instead of closing the story for good.

The last episodes compliteley lost their tone, and felt more like a Quentin Tarantino esque finale rather than the eerie enviroment that they wanted to convey. 

The Performances Are The Life Savior

Camila Monrroe as Rachel is fantastic, bringing a lot to the role and basically saving the entire show for oblivion. Adam DiMarco also brings a nuanced performance as Nikky, as he portrays a vulnerable character full of flaws and incosistencies that make him a great portrayal of inmature child. Also, the supporting cast does a great job at selling the mysterious family tradition.

Without this important factor, the series would have been doomed from episode 2. 

Conclusion

Something Very Bad is Going To Happen it has thrilling elements that makes you wonder what is going to happen, but the script drags too long the central mystery and the overall tension that kept building through the episodes.
