The Struggle To Be An Actor in the New Series - BAIT

General Reviews

Bait is the new tv show from Prime Video that stars Riz Ahmed and Rafe Spall, and all-new cast.

The story follows an actor who is struggling to breakthrough with his unique approach, but suddenly he receives the unexpected news that he will be the new James Bond, and all hell breaks loose, and the producers are reconsider him to audition again, and he needs to save his inner demons before he explodes.

It‘s A Funny, Unique Concept of a Show

BAIT is a series that defines what is the struggle to have your breakthrough in Hollywood, but at the same time facing your own inner demons, be more humble and taking a leap of faith. Riz Ahmed plays Shah Latiff, a London actor who is getting roles in big shows, but he ends up being too dumb in his unsual method approach when it comes to defy decisions from directors, and he gets dumped, but one day, he was leaving the studio, and he made headlines in the news that he was going to be the next James Bond, after a paparazzi stumbles across the street.

From that point, he is targeted, and his social status levels up, and becomes untouchable, but also comes decisions to protect his own family from the backlash of the media and the people.

It‘s Not For Everyone

BAIT it‘s a 6 episode series, written mostly by Riz Ahmed, and also helps to produce the show, and the first 3 episodes are incredibily funny, they nail the british comedy blending with cultures. But, the series makes a few bumps in the fourth episode and when it reaches the finale, it‘s not going to be everyone‘s cup of tea.

But, I liked it. It‘s warm, funny, intense, and Riz Ahmed brings his absolute best to the role, and this opens the possibility of new miniseries with unique concepts like this.

Should You Watch It?

Honestly, Bait is not going to change lives, but it‘s suprisingly moving, has some great messages that you can carry into your own life, and it‘s a reminder to all the struggling actors to be humble and appreciate their roots, and have fun.

You should watch it because it‘s a short season, it‘s well-written, superb acting and the episodes only last around 25 minutes each, so it‘s an easy binge.

BAIT will stream on March 25 in Prime Video.

I love Riz Ahmed (although his new marketing propaganda to be the next Bond is too cringey for me to handle)-- I also love Mo, and this show sounds like such a blast! Definitely watching!
