Beautiful Bodies, The Beauty: Another Weird Ryan Murphy Joint

General Reviews

The Beauty is another joint from Ryan Murphy for FX and stars Jeremy Pope, Evan Peters, Rebecca Hall, Ben Platt, Ashton Kutcher, Anthony Ramos, Isabella Rosselini, and Meghan Trainor

The story follows a sexual transmitted virus that makes everybody to look beautiful, but the virus has some side effects to some people, and two agents from the FBI are investigating the origins of this virus and how a Corporation is behind of all of this.

It‘s weird, sick, but effective series

The 11 episodes got me hooked in from the pilot, Ryan Murphy is very different in how to approach new shows, but The Beauty it‘s based on the comic book of the same name, and some of them, will compare it to the movie THE SUBSTANCE, but this was not a copy and paste kinda thing.

This is different.

And, this is what you expect: Weird dialogue, good performances, sick and weird storylines, and LGBT representation in the most weird way possible.

It‘s suprisingly good

Ryan Murphy has been a hit and miss director, writer and producer, but The Beauty he has finally nail the safe and delivered one of his most strong projects to date. The weird dialogue is what makes a Ryan Murphy joint, but it goes so well with how the script was written. The set-up is nicely done, there‘s a few guest stars that surprised me for a minute, and the reveal twist at the end of episode 2 is quite effective.

All their actors, including Ashton Kutcher brought their A-Game to their roles, and they‘re so committed, that feels kinda rare for a joint like this.

You will want more after watching the pilot

The pilot is not as strong as the other episodes, and you can see why, but when some actors appear in, this is a wild ride. The problem is that this show was not made to be a full season drop, instead went for the weekly release, and the waiting time for episodes feels eternal.

But, after watching the whole season is safe to say that you are in for a ride, because this series has full of surprises, twist and great performances across the board, maybe Ryan Murphy found his next hit with this.

The Beauty is streaming currently on Disney+

I've been hearing about this show everywhere! The big question, though: is it gory?
