Marty Supreme: Ping Pong or Pride Pong?
General ReviewsI finally watched Marty Supreme and let me say it‘s one of the best movies of 2025.
Directed and co-written by Josh Safdie and stars Timothee Chalamet, Gwenyth Paltrow, Kevin O‘Leary, Odessa A‘zion, Tyler The Creator and Abel Ferrara
The story follows the life of Marty Mauser, a shoe salesman from New York who is obsessed to become a famous ping-pong player, but looking for the grand life, his chaotic life brings a series of unfortunate events.

It‘s chaotic and frenetic
Marty Supreme was made by the same guy who brought Uncut Gems, and this film has the same tone, it‘s not as anxiety inducing film, it‘s more like a frenetic movie where all the problems come from the stupidity of his main character. The script offers a good glimpse at how his life is surrounded by good things, but his decisions and the way Marty expresses his grattitude to others is selfish, rude, and offensive at times.
All the chaos generated in the film is caused by Marty, because it‘s a story about how being humble, with convictions and be happy with the life that God has put for you, but for Marty, that‘s not enough. And that‘s the problem, Marty is a piece of shit during the whole movie, and what brings Timothee Chalamet to the role is outstanding, because he makes you feel for him, and hate him at the same time. He conveys so many emotions through Marty, one scene you want him to fail, but the next you want him to win.

The Performances
Timothee Chalamet is the reason why Marty Supreme mostly works, because he gave every ounce of his talent to the table, because a character like Marty Mauser is a challenging role to play, it‘s not easy to be a character to be hated, and loving at the same time.
Another actor who really step in the game is Odessa A‘zion who played Rachel, the love interest of Marty, A‘zion was really good in the movie, and his character is like a mirror to Marty, because she learned all Marty‘s moves. Kevin O‘Leary has strong acting chops in this film, and his character is a piece of garbage, but O‘Leary brings a lot to the table. Every actor in this film, even Gwenyth Paltrow is incredible.

Now I can see which Safdie Brother is the real talent
Josh Safdie delivered a great movie, his direction in this movie is frenetic, messy, and chaotic, and that‘s the point. Safdie oozes a lot of the Uncut Gems style in every angle, frame and handheld camera scenes, and his taste of music is certainly inspired.
Safdie is great in creating situations, that becomes unfortunate for the characters and basically the entire running time, who also is a little long, but it‘s a wild ride.

Conclusion
Marty Supreme also has a astonishing production design, score, and the soundtrack is one of the most important aspects of the film. Is a movie about how life can be dangerous is you‘re a piece of shit of a person. Be humble, respect others, and things will fall into the right place.
It‘s now in theaters.
