The price of feeling when love turns eternity into an instant
General ReviewsA long time ago I saw the movie An Angel in Love and it raised many questions and very deep feelings, reflecting on the meaning of loving, feeling and existing. One of the parts that impacted me in the film is how the angels observe humanity with curiosity, but at the same time without pain, suffering, sincere laughter, or tears, it is as if they were empty characters devoid of emotions and feelings, without the deep touch of the soul. As the film progresses, an angel named Seth appears who meets a doctor named Maggie and sees in her the human fragility of her heart after losing a patient. This led him to understand the purest feeling of humanity, but also courage and tenacity. For me this is a key point that awakens the viewer's emotions and moves the heart. Another point I want to highlight is the part of Seth and Maggie's meeting, the feeling of not seeing, but knowing that something is present, this leads me to a question that I had since I was a child and I still have it, I know that many people also have it, feeling observed as if it were a warning system of the human body itself, but let's go back to the movie. This meeting marks a before and after in the film, this is the key point since this changes the lives of both characters.
Seth's renunciation of immortality is a profound act of love that symbolizes his heart's desire to live and feel rather than have an empty world. The acceptance of living in a new world of emotions and feelings, which will make you happy but will also give you pain, loss, tears and finally death. With this decision, many people understood the true fullness of life is not in eternity but in the ephemeral moment of living each stage and experience of their life even when it destroys your soul. The scene of Maggie's death just when Seth becomes human made many cry and we felt part of the pain of the film in ourselves. Even I, who is not one to cry, could not help my heart from feeling sad. I saw many people who could not contain their emotions and began to cry, especially women and young people. I have rarely had this experience in theaters. That was not seen many with the older generations when the film was released, although now generation Z are more sensitive.
Another thing that I loved about the film is its atmosphere of melancholy that traps the viewer to reflect on the ephemerality of life. The soundtrack is perfect “Iris” by Goo Goo Doll, it is the echo that awakens the soul with its melody and lyrics, what the soul cannot say is expressed in a song. To summarize my publication, I feel that this film is a reflection on the meaning of being human, the fragility of the heart, the ability to live, feel and suffer with each experience, even knowing that everything will end one day. Finally I want to finish by saying that many of us understood with this film that living is not about duration but about the fullness of living with intensity, but also about living with a good heart. How willing would you be to change your lives if you were angels or would you prefer eternal but empty life? Thank you for reading my post, have a nice day.
