Upcoming Movies That Nobody Asked For
General ReviewsThis is a list dedicated to those movies that are upcoming releases that simply nobody asked for and there unnecesary.
Sequels, remakes, rip off or even spin-off are a common trend in Hollywood and this list enhaces why we don‘t need this type of movies in our radar and we can avoid it.
BEETLEJUICE 3

Director Tim Burton after finishing the promotional tour of the second movie, he let it slipped that he will make a third movie, but it‘s up to Warner Bros. However, back in April, Warner Bros oficially confirmed that the third film was in early development and with deals currently negotiating with the main cast.
Having a good box office results, doesn‘t guarantee that the third movie will find his way back to the top. Honestly, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a good sequel after almost two decades, but doing a third movie in the less amount of time, because we need to accept Michael Keaton can‘t play the role forever and they need to fast track the movie
Sure, could be a fun movie, but not a necessary one and the second is a perfect closure to this characters.
TOY STORY 5

Toy Story 3 will be forever the end of the franchise to some people… but not for Pixar. And yet, they made a fourth film, and despite their best efforts, some people liked it, and some others were left dissapointed after the big finale of the third movie. Disney can‘t say “enough“ and then… they confirmed a fifth movie for a 2026 release
The movie will deal with the AI and the current technology and how the normal toys like them will be affected by that change. It would be a great idea if the fifth movie will have new characters and be a soft reboot of the franchise, instead we got the same characters that are looking for a proper conclusion and they still milking their brains out.
Probably, this movie will be great, but for the most loyal fans, the franchise ended in Toy Story 3.
THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

Since the original movie released in theaters back in 2004, the movie gained more than 650 million worldwide in the box office and was met with critical acclaim, and from that moment, there‘s been talks and rumors about making a sequel with Mel Gibbon returning to direct and Jim Caviezel returning as Christ.
The talks has been gone forever and now in 2025, the sequel was greenlighted and it was revealed that last September, Gibson was scouting locations and they reveal the title on January 2025 and they will use the De-aging effect in the main actor for the sequel.
Then, on May 1, 2025, Lionsgate confirmed the distribution of the film and the sequel will begin filming on August for a 2026 release. But with the recent movies from Gibson, this could‘ve a glorious disaster and with the obvious bold choice to use de-aging effect on Jim as an attempt to validate the continuation of the story, as well the budget of the movie is not huge, but seeing what Gibson wants to attempt, this could result in something really bad.
Also, a lot of time has passed since the original and there‘s been new updates in the world that this could cause some controversies.
SPRING BREAKERS 2

The film directed by Harmony Korine is one of the most important films of the 2010s and everything in this story felt like a one-off standalone. The producers tried so hard to make a sequel after the box office results and critical acclaim in 2014 but without Korine in any capacity and they failed to secure financing.
Until, two weeks ago, the sequel was confirmed with Bella Thorne, Ariel Martin, Grace Van Dien, True Whitaker as part of the main cast and Matthew Bright as the director, but Korine is involved in producing, but this a bold move by the producers not having the original director return for a new story and characters and Bright, it‘s good in his own right, but he hasn‘t directed a feature film in over 20 years. This could result in failure.
SOULM8TE

Soulmate is the new spin-off movie from the world of M3GAN and it‘s directed by Kate Dolan, known for the film You‘re Not my Daughter. But the film has all the red flags pointed, because Dolan hasn‘t directed a single movie since 2021 and it‘s his first time directing a franchise high budget film.
It‘s not necessary to see that another killer bot is out there… we get the message in the original movie. But, this film gets a little hope because it was written by James Wan, but still, we don‘t need to see a spin-off of M3GAN, not so soon anyways.
SCREAM 7

Scream 7 it‘s surrounded by controversy because a situation happened with the company behind this franchise Spyglass, after they fired Melissa Barrera from the seventh movie and Jenna Ortega stepped back after hearing what the studio was doing. It was alarming because the production was already hectic, and then, they cease operations and went back in track, when Neve Campbell accepted the role to be the main character again, and then they confirmed a bunch of actors from the original movies and without the new duo, they needed to find a replacement faster.
The movie is directed by Kevin Williamson and he‘s a current figure inside the franchise, but could be good? We don‘t know, because the sixth movie felt like a proper conclusion to the storyline, but a seventh movie is pulling the plug, for a while. This franchise needs to rest and reset, because Melissa could‘ve become the next Sydney, but they killed their chances to find out.
UNTITLED THE EXORCIST REBOOT

I love Mike Flanagan as director and writer, but doing an Exorcist reboot so soon, after the cancellation of the trilogy by David Gordon Green feels like Universal is desperate to find a success in this franchise, but this reboot could be good because Flanagan is behind it, but at the same time, it‘s a movie so beloved to the horror film community that anything could go wrong.
Instead of doing a reboot, they could focus in directing more original horror movies. The Exorcist it‘s a great film but sometimes certain films aren‘t meant to be touched.
THE MUMMY

Lee Cronin is directing a new movie from the franchise of The Mummy, with Jack Reynor as the main lead. Despite, Cronin directing Evil Dead Rise, Blumhouse is in charge of this new version and this is the first time that Universal will not finance the movie, instead will be Warner Bros.
Could be good?
Yes, but at the same is touching a franchise that has been in decline, over the years. The version with Tom Cruise was so bad that even Universal tried to bury it underground after the release, and the fact after the third movie from the main storyline with Brendan Fraser is iconic… this could feel like a stepback or reboot of sorts, because without Brendan involved, there‘s no Mummy, simple as that. No matter if they cast another actor, Brendan was the heart and soul of those films, even he‘s is not in the same shape he used to be… Brendan can still act and bring that iconic role to life.
MOANA (LIVE ACTION)

This could go wrong for a number of reasons. Doing a live action of an animated movie that it‘s relatively new, it‘s a risky choice and the fact that Dwayne Johnson is the only actor from the original reprising his role, takes the mantle of producer and even donated some money to the budget into making it happen. And the director of a Broadway play turned into a recorded movie, Thomas Kail is jumping into directing his first budget movie with no experience at all.
This could lead to a failure for some fans and critics, good for audiences because they pretty much accept anything.
