The Percy Jackson movies, which seemed good at first, are getting worse with each episode. The actors are very weak and made Percy look incredibly silly, with nothing to do with the books.

This fantasy adventure film for children has several narrative elements that feel clunky and lack proper built-up to, making for a somewhat puzzling film.

Given that the source material is a fantasy novel series for young adults, the film adaptation is naturally meant for a younger audience, resulting in somewhat simplified plot elements. There are areas where the adaptation could have improved, especially in the details.

All in all, I gotta say it was a pretty enjoyable watch, but I still noticed some issues. The creative team's writing skills were solid, giving the show a darker and more realistic vibe than your typical shows for younger audiences. The character development was impressive, too. However, it's a shame that the fast-paced and short episodes kind of took away from the overall viewing experience. They only partially recreated some scenes from the original source material due to budget constraints, which is a bummer. Hopefully, the second season will make up for these shortcomings because, let's be honest, eight episodes still feel a bit too short.

It's crazy to think that every single scene in this show, which is based on a fantasy adventure road trip movie, was filmed so blandly that it could put you to sleep with its dialogue and narration. As someone who's a fan of the original story and has been waiting for this adaptation for ages, I gotta say I'm super let down. The good thing about episode 1&2 is that they pretty much nailed the original story, scene by scene, and the camp's design and scenery felt really authentic. But I wonder why the action sequences, for example, were so dull. Was it because they didn't have enough money? And on top of that, they left out a ton of interesting details, and the pacing and tension just didn't cut it. The leading actor also didn't fully bring out the character's personality.

You know what? The original work's pacing is pretty solid, and even that movie adaptation, which everyone bashed, didn't have any problems with it. But man, I never saw it coming that the TV series adaptation would have such awful pacing. Every little change they made from the original just messed up the climactic moments or made the plot feel totally unconvincing. And I really don’t wanna put it like that, but all those young actors could have shown more emotions. Honestly, when you put it all together, the TV series adaptation doesn't even come close to the movie version.

Its strengths lie in faithfully portraying the entire plot of the original work scene by scene as well as the camp's design and layout. However, the action scenes seem rather lackluster—perhaps there was a budget constraint? Additionally, many charming little details were overlooked, like the chocolate milkshakes that were meant to be there upon arrival at the camp. The dialogue between the characters is quite dull at times, and the pacing lacks tension. The lead actor comes across as a bit sluggish. At the very least, Percy needs to exude a bit of ADHD-like energy to be convincing!

I'm not sure how many of those who criticized it have actually read the book. I also don't think it's fair to dismiss the current faithful adaptation solely due to differing skin color and appearance. Overall, the quality and emotional depth of this adaptation surpasses that of the previous failed movies. It's inevitable that not every detail can be perfectly executed, especially given the constraints of an eight-episode series. There are also a few props and special effects that are less-than-stellar. Nevertheless, as someone who has purchased and read the entire book series, I'm satisfied.

I just watched the first two episodes! The storyline remains faithful to the original while making tweaks that are better suited for the screen. The pacing is engaging, and I'm loving the new plot elements they've introduced. The dynamic between the mother and son in the first episode and the initial meeting at the camp in the second episode are standout moments! Even though the characters look different from the original (honestly, I'm not bothered by that anymore), each one feels true to their character, and the overall vibe is spot on. Ahh, it's like a dream—I'm over the moon!
