A masterpiece, this series breaks benchmarks and records, one of the most memorable of all time.

This show kind of feels like one of those series that's been there forever. Like, I'm just watching it out of habit.

I regret not watching it sooner, fearing it might be too intense like Criminal Minds. Unlike its predecessors, this show covers a diverse range of victims and perpetrators, while reaffirming the notion that 60% of victims know their attackers. This aspect, combined with the show's logical storytelling and educational approach, makes it compelling.

SVU draws its inspirations from real-life cases against the backdrop of New York. The series is light on explicit violence. Instead, it offers a reality check on the current legal system, where justice isn't always served due to technicalities, non-cooperation of victims, or legal loopholes, highlighting the brutal truth that the law does not always ensue just outcomes.

This TV show primarily focuses on stories involving special groups of victims, including underage girls, people in marginalized communities, and children. Each case presents a different and intriguing narrative. The prevalence of crimes surrounding these characters, some of which even involve them becoming perpetrators, can be really disheartening. Overall, this show kinda emphasizes on mental health, and it’s a worthwhile series to watch!

The first season of this series features unique street scenes and fashion styles from 90s American TV shows. The overall visuals have a soft-filtered aesthetic. The plot primarily revolves around tracking down the killer rather than extensively delving into the victims. The downside is that the female lead has less screen time than anticipated. It would be great to see glimpses of her daily life outside of her work.

4.As the latest spin-off of the long-running Law & Order franchise, it's somewhat disappointing. Overall, it's satisfying to find out who killed Elliot's wife and to know the truth. However, the writing feels a bit weak, and the story suffers from some plot holes as a result.

Raw and real

This was a very smart, but also sensible, spin-off of the original. Everything is incredibly deep-cutting and Mariska Hargitay was shooting to kill (pun intended or not) since she set foot on that set for the first time. Later on, in more recent seasons, when they started doing sort of "re-creations" of situations that actually happened in real life, I couldn't decide whether I was a little miffed on one hand, while on the other I thought it was a way to call attention to certain cases where justice has not been served (but that would have required further research on my part; regardless), and to be honest, I still haven't. It's still a great show I never pass on the opportunity to watch, though.
