Hunter x Hunter excels as doesn’t rely solely on combat to advance the plot, rather, many confrontations are resolved through using wits. The plot transitions and monologues might be kinda long-winded, but they add a nuanced depth to the story.

The 1999 version of Hunter x Hunter is slower-paced but features more beautiful characters, distinctive music, and stylistic expression than the newer version.

The 1999 version of Hunter x Hunter is exceptionally well-crafted, from its storyline and dialogue to its visuals.

The character development in Hunter x Hunter is superbly handled. Some plot points push Gon's character towards the extreme in order to drive the narrative, yet it all fits logically, perfectly blending character and plot. Both heroes and villains are complex and charismatic, making it a remarkable series.

What I adore most about Hunter x Hunter is its avoidance of simple dichotomies of good and evil. The characters are nuanced and aren't preachy, which I find particularly off-putting in other works. The plot remains uniquely fascinating, outshining many modern productions, which speaks volumes about how ingenious Yoshihiro Togashi is as a manga artist.

It took a while for me to start watching Hunter x Hunter, and though I found the art style and image quality less appealing now, the plot and character designs are remarkably intricate. The series is notable for its predominantly male cast and compelling villains.

Hunter x Hunter is the best Shonen anime of all time, and it also has some of the best characters in anime. Meruem, Killua, Kurapika, Hisoka, Chrollo, Neferpitou, Gon and Netero are all incredibly well written characters. The philosophy of this show, which I won't spoil, is one of the best in anime. With epic, amazing fights, the show makes the outcomes feel hard-earned and satisfying. The tone of the show can shift drastically depending on the arc, with the Yorknew City and Chimera Ant arcs being incredibly dark but also the two best arcs of the show. The music and voice acting are incredible and the emotions are enhanced much more than other anime. Hunter x Hunter is my favorite anime of all time and is easily a masterpiece.

I finally understand why everyone has a love-hate relationship with Yoshihiro Togashi. Despite following a formula that may seem stale in today's standards, there are always unexpected surprises. Even though many have borrowed from his work, no one has quite mastered Togashi's way of storytelling and character development, which are both whimsical and spontaneous. Coupled with the animation style unique to the 1990s, every moment is captivating.
