The film is mediocre, and the script is terrible. The main storyline revolves around the concert in London, with several other events taking place alongst it, including the battle for custody, his last marriage, the discussion on homosexuality, and the childhood trauma. However, none of these events was explored in any meaningful way, resulting in the waste of their potential. The writing supporting these subplots felt inconsistent, and the pacing didn't feel good. It's a shame that despite putting on an excellent performance, the female lead fails to truly move the audience due to both the weak overall quality of the movie and the intrinsic traits of the character itself. Any viewer who is trying to sympathize with her character will have to draw their own connections between Renée Zellweger's journey to stardom and Judy Garland's.

They played safe with the plot, though there are still plenty of scenes to get emotional about. For instance, when witnessing her performance for the first time after all the nervousness and chaos, you will realize that this is the moment a superstar is born. Judy belongs on the stage. When "Over the Rainbow” came on at the end of the show, I literally had goosebumps. The significance it carries is profound. Renée Zellweger did an amazing job at portraying the character. This one is definitely for the books.

The film left me feeling emotional for a while, though it could have been even more impactful in my opinion. The director adopted a more classical audiovisual approach to tell the stories of fame, troubles, and regrets in the final moments of the legendary actress's life. The extraordinary life of Judy Garland will forever be remembered by the fans, just as the iconic songs played in the movie would. The film immediately became a must-watch the moment I saw the cast. Perhaps no one is more suitable than Renée Zellweger to take on this role, due to her own experience of winning an Oscar and her struggles with controversies. Her performance was spectacular.

Whoever could survive the cruel rules and intense competitions of the studio era must possess the most dazzling qualities of a superstar, the most twisted personality, and the purest passion for the stage. Despite trying to offer just a small glimpse at the final moments of Judy Garland's legendary life, the show still fails to elaborate on the events that took place. There are no explanations as to why certain things happened the way they did and of all the interesting events that could have been explored, the show takes the safe way out by talking about Judy Garland's family. The show lacks excitement, only relying on the performances of the cast to carry it. The story of the homosexual couple and the iconic "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" are two of the few highlights.

This one is hard to watch. Her depressing attitude and self-loathing after she had given up on herself are as heart-wrenching to watch as they are embarrassing. Her longing for attention and affection permeates everything she does. Despite being loved by the whole world, she’s never truly happy. Talent has never been an advantage in this kind of story. It's more of a curse.

A ruthless industry

In "Judy" you will learn about the bittersweet life of famous artist Judy Garland, her rise as the most prominent figure of entertainment and the abuses she suffered by the industry.

Quando "Over the Rainbow" apareceu no final, eu literalmente me arrepiei – o significado que isso carrega é profundo.
