The director clearly wanted to highlight Jackie Chan’s kung fu–infused humor with a handful of Eastern-flavored gags, yet none of them truly land. The film suffers from shallow characterization, as not a single role carries meaningful internal conflict, and too many jokes feel awkwardly forced rather than genuinely funny.

Co-financed by Golden Harvest Film Company, this American road-race comedy’s biggest draw is seeing Roger Moore and Jackie Chan share the screen. It’s a raucous, self-aware spoof that revels in absurdity while celebrating American car culture, and it delivers plenty of laughs along the way.
