2.Dune offers an unparalleled visual and auditory feast, with meticulous attention to costumes, props, and is rich in details, presenting a grandiose space epic. It's an excellent introduction to a larger saga, crafting three worlds with distinct music, colors, and textures. Despite its pacing and deliberate eschewing of conventional 'climaxes', the film isn't draggy or tedious. However, several key characters seem to lack depth, thus the film is memorable for its constructed universe rather than emotional resonance.

The production quality is good, no doubt about it, but that's probably one of the lowest-hanging fruit given the sophistication of today's commercial movie industry. This film feels more like a condensed version of Denis Villeneuve's previous works than a true masterpiece. It lacks any real imagination or creativity, which is why you can spot traces of "Arrival" and "Blade Runner 2049" throughout. To make a movie truly epic and create a believable alien world, you need more than just a grand worldview. It requires a real system and structure for a totally different group of people or beings.

I'm really let down. This movie didn't leave a lasting impression on me at all. Even though the cinematography, visual effects, and music were top-notch, the excitement didn't last. Personally, I think Hans Zimmer's musical score only worked in a few scenes. The art design was lacking in imagination. It focused too much on minimalism and washed-out colors, making the daytime desert scenes and nighttime darkness feel boring. The storyline was all over the place, and the character development was weak and unconvincing. Rebecca Ferguson's character stood out, but I doubt Timothée Chalamet fit his role. 6.5/10.

The adaptation is truly outstanding! The director nailed the original work's essence while adding his unique touch. The movie used minimalist designs influenced by classical art, featuring muted colors and slow-motion shots to create powerful ceremonial scenes. Close-ups were also used to convey the characters' emotions, though, at times, there were too many slow-motion shots and close-ups. The action sequences skipped the typical conflict climax and the overall narration broke the traditional three-act structure. And humans appear feeble and insignificant compared to the silent, massive objects in the face of destiny. This film goes beyond just being visually stunning; it presents a comprehensive artistic system.

This movie delivers a top-notch audiovisual experience, with intricate costumes and set designs full of charming details, creating a grand space epic vibe. It really stands out as an impressive start to a grand production. The three worlds come alive vividly with carefully chosen music, colors, and textures, while the way they handle the big moments keeps the film exciting without dragging on. However, it's a bit of a letdown that there are too many dream sequences with those wide shots, which can leave viewers feeling worn out. Also, some key characters lack depth in their personalities, making audiences more impressed by the world-building than emotionally invested in the characters.

This sci-fi blockbuster is really unique. Villeneuve added his personal touch, creating a grand, pathetic, religious, and ceremonial atmosphere to the movie. It's interesting because this type of story could have been turned into a more mainstream and energetic film. It truly captures that epic feel, especially with Hans Zimmer's powerful music playing throughout. It may not appeal to everyone, but for me, it hits all the right marks and feels absolutely incredible.

It's like they took the filming style of "Blade Runner 2049" and applied it to "Star Wars." Actually, the main story is pretty straightforward. It’s packed with world-building that smoothly fits into the fast-paced narrative, making it easy for viewers to dive into the movie, even if unfamiliar with the "Dune" universe or storyline. The two and a half hours just zip by. The cinematography, especially the amazing editing, gives off an epic vibe by switching between close-ups of characters and sweeping landscapes. Rather than relying on typical Hollywood effects and thrills, "Dune" captivates with its rich audiovisual experience that drives the storytelling and emotions.

Funny to think that such a complicated, political, and multi-layered story like Dune was brought onto the screen with such care that it made it look ¨easy¨.

Fell asleep

Sooooo boring. Haven't seen a movie this boring in a while. Boring script, bad acting, visually passable.

Please, stop

I don't know why people are so obsessed with making films based on books and then forget about the book altogether.
