Amber_ScottSeptember 16, 2024The film’s story is simple, the character development is weak, and the plot is riddled with inconsistencies, exhibiting the typical flaws of commercial blockbusters. Compared to “Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope”, there’s little in the way of innovation or breakthroughs. However, the film’s brisk pacing and the thrilling climactic moments are undeniably commendable.

Carole_BrownAugust 15, 2024The film offers no breakthrough in world-building and no innovation in its narrative form. The story is told in the same old way, with no change in how it’s presented, and the visual effects are mediocre. The acting is awkward, and it seems the movie relies solely on nostalgia and marketing to draw in viewers.

Jeremy_BlandAugust 9, 2024If you're not a fan, this movie is a total bust. It's got all the issues that come with commercial genre films: an unoriginal and predictable plot, illogical plot holes, action scenes that feel cheap and fake, characters who change their minds for no good reason, and emotional scenes that just don't feel relatable. Relying on homages and nostalgia just isn't enough to make this film work.

Mason_CunninghamAugust 9, 2024This movie's got a huge expection to fulfill, with all those previous six films to live up to. It tries to honor and keep the legacy going, but the plot feels a bit mediocre, much like the fourth film. The homages are there, but they could've been done better. The marketing hyped up the older characters, but it's really Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren who bring the movie to life.

Saul_GainesAugust 9, 2024This sequel is pretty polished, but it doesn't really bring anything new to the table. It just builds on what's already there. Fans are gonna love all the nods and references that give them that warm, familiar nostalgia. Even if you're not a huge Star Wars fan, watching the original trilogy makes this one feel exciting and nostalgic. And those retro filming techniques just add to the whole sentimental vibe, too. As a non-fan, I can't help but feel that excitement.

Jayden_WatersAugust 9, 2024If you're not a Star Wars fan, this movie is still a solid Hollywood blockbuster with a clear genre and exciting scenes. The dramatic parts might not blow you away, but they're pretty decent, nonetheless. Any flaws in the plot are pretty forgivable for Star Wars fans. And if the next ones are this good, they could definitely bring back the excitement for fans and start a new pop culture wave.

Bonnie_DunlapAugust 9, 2024I'm really let down by this movie. It's basically a rehash of "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" and it's starting to feel like a soap opera with all the family drama. The new Sith Lord is just not tough enough. The action, space battles, and dialogue are all pretty bland, and the whole thing is just too tame. It would be tough to stay interested if it wasn't for the nostalgia. The cool shots of galaxies and Han Solo's appearance were the only things that caught my attention.

Alisha_BowenAugust 9, 2024This movie definitely has some connection to Episode IV, Episode V, and Episode VI. But there are just too many nods and nostalgia in it. The plot feels like they just rehashed the one in Episode IV while switching the main characters' genders. Episode IV had those groundbreaking visuals, but this one doesn't have that same flairs. The new hero is all skilled up, but fighting a teenage bad guy isn't all that thrilling. The lightsaber fights are kind of meh. What really shines are the characters from before and that cute BB8 droid.

This movie was the chance of breathing new life into Star Wars saga. Old fans could see the end of Skywalker’s story and new fans could meet these characters. I’m happy with what I watched, I think they could balance nostalgia with freshness and call everyone’s attention.

Though it has a very similar narrative to the first Star Wars film, “The Force Awakens” presents the perfect balance between nostalgia and newness to create a new gen of fans.

The first movie of the latest Star Wars trilogy is the perfect start to a new intergalactic adventure. A movie that contains the perfect amount of nostalgia and innovation.
