Without Hollywood-level special effects, it’s hard to see Gods of Egypt as anything more than a long, mediocre movie. The poorly structured plot, based on Egyptian mythology, makes the themes of love and revenge feel hollow, and the political struggle for the throne only dulls the otherwise stunning golden visuals.

The special effects flood the screen with dazzling gold, making it hard to keep up at times. Unfortunately, I’m not too familiar with Egyptian mythology, so I was a little lost. Brenton Thwaites, though, does show some potential.

A spectacular film with a well-paced, cohesive story that delves into the interplay between gods and humans. The narrative raises compelling questions about power and faith, offering satisfying answers. The visuals rival those of "Avatar," showcasing meticulously designed characters and breathtaking effects.

Without Hollywood-level effects, "Gods of Egypt" would likely devolve into a plodding mediocrity. The flimsy narrative undermines its exploration of love and revenge, while its depiction of divine conflict feels hollow. Even the golden opulence of its visuals can’t mask the story’s superficiality.

A special effects festival

Although its cast received critics, this film is a perfect special effects festival to enter into the world of Egyptian mythology and its gods' pantheon.

Brenton Thwaites, no entanto, mostra algum potencial.
