Gaspar Noé's trademark visual style is mesmerizing, with its bold use of color—particularly reds and greens—and inventive lighting and music. However, the stunning aesthetics struggle to compensate for the film's lack of narrative depth. The result is a captivating yet somewhat hollow experience.

The most striking moment is when the couple's argument in a taxi escalates, unleashing buried grievances. The director's use of ambient lighting to frame their silhouettes intensifies the suffocating tension and mirrors the fragility of their relationship.

I dislike how people are simplifying this by labeling it as mere pornography. The abundance of intimate scenes is not the film's drawback. If anything, these scenes artfully convey the emotional journey of this flawed character in a captivating and clever manner. When you're addressing the psychological impact of a certain idea, you should expect a considerable amount of such scenes in the movie. That's just the nature of it. Honestly, I believe this film executed those sequences exceptionally well. I mean, there are genuinely visually striking shots throughout the entire movie.
